The MSN reported on Aug. 28, 2013, that Ram Charan Teja’s father Chiranjeevi made him sign “Zanjeer” remake.

The South star Ram Charan who is debuting in Bollywood with the Hindi and Telugu remake of “Zanjeer” opposite Priyanka Chopra was apprehensive to star in the movie which had originally starred Amitabh Bachchan in the role of a police officer.

Ram Charan says it was his superstar father Chiranjeevi who encouraged him to sign the film. The 28-year-old actor said that his father told him to reject a film only if the script is bad and not because he was scared to try something new and made him realise that offers like this don’t come everyday.

Ram Charan debuted in Telugu movie “Chirutha” in 2007, winning a Filmfare South award for best debut. With his second socio fantasy movie “Magadheera”, he won his second Filmfare South award, this time for best actor. He later starred in movies like “Orange”, “Racha”, “Naayak”, taking the tally to five films.

The original had catapulted Amitabh Bachchan to the iconic status of angry young man of Hindi cinema. He expressed happiness that he tried something new and is eager for audience reaction.
