New Zealand coach Mike Hesson has a game plan for Shahid Afridi; he said on the eve of the match: “We have a come across Afridi a few times in T20 match and have a number of plans for him, but if you don’t execute then he is able to take you apart with the bat.

New Zealand rested Trent Boult and Matt Henry, and Ross Taylor with Mitchell McClenaghan will play in place of them.
