A man was detained for allegedly splashing an unidentified liquid on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during his ‘padyatra’ in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Saturday. The incident occurred while Kejriwal was greeting supporters behind a cordon.
Immediate Reaction and Detention
The man, believed to be a local resident, approached Kejriwal and splashed the liquid on him. Security personnel quickly overpowered the individual and detained him. Kejriwal and his security team were seen wiping their faces following the incident.
AAP’s Response
Reacting to the incident, the AAP issued a strong statement: “If a former chief minister is not safe in the national capital, where will the common man go?” The party also criticized the BJP-led Centre, highlighting concerns over the law and order situation in Delhi. “Delhi is facing a complete breakdown of law and order under BJP’s rule,” the AAP stated.

Political Implications
The incident has sparked political tensions, with AAP leaders accusing the BJP of failing to ensure safety in the capital.
Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj remarked, “BJP leaders carry out rallies in all states without incidents, yet Arvind Kejriwal consistently faces assaults. The law and order in Delhi have collapsed, and the central government and the Home Minister are not doing anything.”
