Plot

“Jalsa” focuses on the lives of Ruksana and Maya, played by Shefali Shah and Vidya Balan, respectively. Ruksana is a domestic helper working in the home of Maya, a famous and influential journalist. Ruksana’s daughter gets severely injured in a hit-and-run case on one unfortunate day. The investigation involves journalists, police, and family forming the key storyline. Primarily, the movie sheds light on several facets that are very complex.
The movie does a commendable job of showing the physical and psychological aftermath one deals with while experiencing trauma or anxiety. The character Maya (played by Vidya Balan) is depicted exceptionally well. The sense of hysteria is visually portrayed very well. The audience can feel her sense of claustrophobia and helplessness in the situation.

The concept of truth is constantly put forward in this film.
However, this movie shuts the mouths of the people who constantly say that Bollywood does not take any risks. Bollywood is continuously called upon to make remakes of the 70s or any movie from the south film industry. Undoubtedly, people lost faith in whether creators can make something like this. But, on the contrary, this movie did exceptionally well.
