Parents can keep their eyes on their ward in school – Great leap in the education sector

Delhi-Schools

It won’t be long before CCTV cameras will act as the eyes of the parents in school. The Public Works Department (PWD) is working on a project to install CCTV cameras in the classrooms, that will provide a direct link for parents to watch the live footage.

They will be able to see what their ward is doing and which subject is being taught in the classrooms. That gives the parents a tighter hold on their children. The parents will be given the login credentials with their own IDs and passwords. The PWD is responsible for providing and updating the student details and the supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and comprehensive Annual Maintenance of Contract of CCTV cameras in government schools.

“In view of authorized access by parents and guardians only, the correctness of mobile number and student data is very important for securing live video feed to parents/guardians. As once the mobile number and student’s details are unloaded in the DGS app, login and password shall be generated automatically by the system and will be forwarded to the registered mobile number.”, said the government official.

The heads of the schools are also asked to obtain consent from the parents of all the students to keep a record of the consent forms and the details will be provided to them. A room will be allotted to the classrooms in such a way that no change will be required throughout the year.

The government has asked the schools to provide the data in the next 15 days and once the data is provided, the department will update the data in the software, and the links and live feed of the children will be provided to the parents automatically.

The parents will be warned not to share the details and the credentials to any third-party mobile app and if done so, suitable action will be taken against them in a court of law.
