General Motors India finally launched the awaited Chevrolet Sail hatchback and sedan on September 24, 2014 for prices Rs 4.41 and Rs 5.19 respectively for the base models.
The higher versions of the hatchback and sedan are priced at Rs 6.81 lakh and Rs 7.64 lakh respectively.
Both the models are available in diesel and petrol variants. While the diesel variant is powered by a 1.3 litre engine, a 1.2 litre engine runs the petrol variant, said a report on Times of India.
Arvind Saxena, the General Motors India president and managing director, said: “The new SAIL hatchback and sedan reinforce GM’s commitment to provide offerings that offer value for money at the heart of the market.”
Sail was first launched in 2012 on a global passenger car platform from erstwhile Chinese partner SAIC and was created exclusively for the emerging markets such as India.
The models crossed one million sales figure around the world in July 2014.

Some of the features of new Sail car include central door locking, engine immobilizer and speed-sensitive automatic door locks.
Safety features also include remote keyless entry enhance active safety, the anti-lock braking system (ABS), dual air bags and EBD.
What’s great in the new Sail models are the comfort interiors that bring convenience for five passengers including the driver. The new leatherette upholstery is also commendable, while high roof design leaves ample space for headroom.
Chevrolet Sail Sedan Exteriors, Interiors and Features Review:
There are six available colors in Sail for the exteriors. While Summit White, Switchblade Silver, Caviar Black, Sandrift Grey and Linen Beige are common to both new models, the Super Red color is exclusive to the hatchback and the Velvet red to Sedan.
