While audiences eagerly awaited the sequel to “Shazam!,” DC became the bearer of bad news by shifting the release date to 2023 instead of 2022, which the makers initially confirmed. “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is still a few months away, but there is a new update related to the upcoming DC film.

According to FilmRatings.com, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” has been rated PG-13 for sequences of action and violence, and language.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will again feature Billy Batson and his foster siblings. The team will collaborate to fight the Daughters of Atlas and stop them from using a weapon that can destroy the world in which they must travel to make peace with the Gods since Billy takes their powers for granted.

The sequel stars Zachary Levi, Jack Dylan Grazer, Ian Chen, Grace Fulton, Jovan Armand, Faithe Herman, Rachel Zegler, Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and Djimon Hounsou in the lead roles. Other cast members include Marya Milans, Cooper Andrews, Rizwan Manji, and Lotta Losten in supporting roles. Wonder Woman will also make an appearance.

Development of the film began following the release of Shazam! in 2019, and Sandberg was confirmed as the film’s director, along with most of the cast members reprising their roles the same year.

Although the film was scheduled to be released on April 1, 202, it was delayed to November 4, 202,2, and then to June 2, 202,3 to the Covid-19 pandemic. The release date was changed to December 16, 2022, previously given to Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

The release date was pushed back five days to December 21, 2022, but was again shifted to March 17, 2023, after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom moved its release date to December 25, 2023.

Shazam! was released on April 5, 2019. Directed by David F. Sandberg, the film received positive reviews from critics with particular praise towards the direction and performances and grossed around $366 million at the box office.
