New Rs 75 coin to commemorate new Parliament inauguration

The Indian govt has announced that it will launch a new Rs 75 coin to mark the inauguration of the new Parliament building on May 28, 2023. The coin will have the inscription “Parliament Complex” with the image of the new building, designed to reflect the spirit of self-reliant India.

The new Parliament building is a part of the Central Vista redevelopment project, which aims to transform the iconic Rajpath and its surrounding areas into a modern and integrated administrative hub. The new building will have a triangular shape and a seating capacity of 888 members in Lok Sabha and 384 members in Rajya Sabha.

The inauguration of the new Parliament building will be a historic occasion for India, as it will mark the completion of 75 years of independence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the ceremony, which dignitaries from various fields and sectors will attend. The ceremony will also showcase India’s cultural diversity and heritage through various performances and displays.

The new Rs 75 coin will be a commemorative coin, which means it will not be circulated as legal tender. However, it will be available for purchase by collectors and enthusiasts. The coin will be made of copper-nickel alloy and will weigh 35 grams. It will have a diameter of 44 mm and a thickness of 2.5 mm.

The coin will feature the Lion Capital on one side and the image of the new Parliament building on the other. The words “Parliament Complex” and “Bharat Sarkar” will be inscribed on the upper periphery of the coin, while the words “New Delhi” and “Dilli” will be inscribed on the lower periphery. The year “2023” will be written below the image of the building.

The coin will also have a special feature called latent image, which means that when viewed from different angles, it will show different images or texts. The latent image on this coin will show either “75” or “सत्तर पाँच” depending on the angle of view.

The Centre has said that the new Rs 75 coin will be a tribute to the democratic values and traditions of India, as well as a symbol of its progress and aspirations. The coin will also celebrate the achievements and contributions of the Parliamentarians and the Parliament staff over the years.
