On the big Sunday evening, July 12, Miss Oklahoma Olivia Jordan was crowned Miss USA 2015 by beating 50 other contestants in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The 26-year-old Olivia Jordan is a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a graduate in health science from Boston University.
She graced the stage in a hot pink strapless gown and deftly spoke during the question and answer session.
She addressed race relations as the next hot-button issue in the United Nations and how they have to work collectively towards becoming an accepting society where irrespective of race and gender everyone is entitled to the same rights and opportunities.
During the second question and answer session, when it was asked “Which woman should be put on the new $10 bill?” She stated that Oprah Winfrey was a deserving candidate, however before concluding she also suggested the name of Harriet Tubman, a former slave who emancipated other slaves from slavery.
The Miss USA pageant lasted for two weeks and during which the contestants participated in preliminary completions and volunteer work, including a swimsuit, a panel interview and evening gown.
Out of the 50 participants, only 15 finalists were narrowed down for the big event that further came down to 11 and eventually five.
In the competition, Miss Texas Ylianna Guerra was announced the first runner-up followed by Miss Nevada Brittany McGowan, Miss Rhode Island Anea Garcia, and Miss Maryland Mame Adjei.
