‘Ashamed to be a Muslim’ comment lands Mehbooba Mufti in trouble

Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti seems to have stirred the members of the National Conference with her comments on religion-based violence today. She told reporters that she was ashamed to be a Muslim post the attacks.

A commemoration ceremony was held for the eight CRPF officers who died in yesterday’s attack in Parampore in Kashmir. Lashkar-e-Toiba, a cell of militants, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

A total of 6 vehicles with CRPF personnel was returning to Paramore when they were attacked by 4 militants. 20 other CRPF personnel were injured in the gun-firing battle apart from the 8 that died of their grave injuries.

According to the CRPF personnel, the whole thing was over within 10 minutes. It was around 4:40 PM in the evening. Two militants were shot and killed. Authorities are trying to identify if these men were of local or foreign origin.

Mehbooba Mufti: Bloodshed In Name Of Islam Shameful

While talking to the press during the wreath-laying ceremony, CM Mufti said these acts would bring no good. In-fact, they only brought defamation to the State with no good help to the dead.

CM Mufti’s comments on being ashamed of being Muslim offended many of the Opposition National Conference. Officials exclaimed disdain, citing the CM’s concrete and repetitive words that said ‘terror didn’t stem from religion.

There has been speculation as to whether the CM has had a change of heart and has jumped onto a communist approach to terror or is just using the shoulder of religion as a measure of political stance.

There is no news yet on who the other two assailants were, and the authorities will be looking for them.

The terror cell Lashkar-e-Toiba is known to terrorize the Indian borders surrounding Pakistan. Their legislation goes far beyond their want for Jammu-Kashmir.

They profess that they wish to take back all ex-Pakistani territories or those currently surrounding their borders, also terrorizing Central Asia. Eventually, they look to spread Muslim rule over India.
