Vancouver Police, on August 14, 2017, confirmed that a stunt woman has died while performing a daredevil motor cycle stunt during the shooting of “Deadpool 2”. The name of the victim is now kept under the wraps, and police have maintained utmost confidentiality while dealing with this mishap. The Police officials in Vancouver revealed that ‘Worksafe BC’ dedicated to overseeing occupational safety is currently investigating this case. The Coroners Service of the British Colombia is also simultaneously investigating this case.
A shell shocked “Deadpool 2” crew
This shocking incident took place when the filming crew led by director David Leitch was shooting a crucial stunt scene for the movie. According to the ‘Worksafe BC’, this mishap happened at the 1000 Block of West Waterfront Road, near the Jackpool Plaza, Vancouver BC.
After the incident, 20th Century Fox, the studio behind “Deadpool 2” released a press release stating that they are deeply saddened by the accident which occurred in the morning. The statement added that all the prayers of the entire crew members are now with the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased woman.
After the death news, Ryan Reynolds who plays the title role in the film tweeted through his official social networking handle and conveyed his condolences. According to Reynolds, the death of their team member has pulled the whole movie crew to a state of shock and devastation. The actor also conveyed his deepest condolences to the members of the deceased’s family members.
”Deadpool 2″: The follow up to the 2016 blockbuster
“Deadpool 2” is the much-awaited sequel of “Deadpool” which collected $363 million domestically upon its release in 2016. The film grossed $783 million worldwide, and it even fared well from Asan countries like India and China. The production of this sequel began in July 2017, and from then Reynolds, a native of Vancouver has been extensively sharing several exclusive shooting pictures of the movie through his social media handle. In the first week of August, Ryan Reynolds shared a photo with the local police officials and thanked them for controlling the traffic during shoot times.
“Deadpool 2” is scheduled for release in 2018. An exact release date of this flick will be unveiled in the coming days.
This death is the second such occurrence which happened in the last few weeks. Earlier, John Bernecker, a stunt performer for “The Walking Dead” died after falling from the show’s Georgia set. The Coroner’s report claimed that this death happened due to blunt force trauma to the head.
