Filmfare awards ceremony on Jan 24, trophy unveiled by Priyanka Chopra

The trophy for the most awaited Bollywood awards of the year, Filmfare awards was unveiled by actress Priyanka Chopra yesterday. The 59th Filmfare awards will be hosted by actor Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra on Jan 24th 2014. The awards this year will be offering a glimpse of Bollywood’s future in a humorous way.

Tarun Rai, CEO, Worldwide Media of Filmfare magazine said that every year Filmfare tries to do better. He said that Filmfare has been partnering with Indian cinema for about 60 of the last 100 years. This year it will be a light-hearted view into the future of Bollywood like 10-20 years from now. Hence the award trophy has been sculpted digitally in 3-D.

Unveiling the special 3D Filmfare trophy at the press conference, Priyanka Chopra said that that she was very nervous about hosting the show and would like actress Deepika Padukone to win the Best actress Filmfare award this year.

Instituted initially in 1954 with five trophies, the Filmfare awards now include 31 categories and are considered as Indian equivalent of the Oscars. The awards ceremony will be held at Yash Raj Studios in Andheri, on January 24 and is being telecasted on Sony Entertainment Television on Jan 26, 2014.
