Plot and the actors
This movie is based on an actual event from 1993 of a tribal woman, Sengeni, and her husband, Rajakannu. Both of them live in a righteous lawyer battle in court to uncover the mystery of her husband’s disappearance. The police imprisoned her husband under some false pretenses.
The flick focuses on the plight of the Irula tribe that has persisted through many generations. The dramatic pitch of the movie attracted the masses, but it also was not needed in the several points of the movie. Jai Bhim is an indulgent commercial film. The film makes one shudder at the sight of injustice meted out to the Irular community.
When a ruling party member lodges a theft case, the police feel pressure to resolve the case from leaders.
The public response from theaters
Surya plays the role of Advocate Chandru, who defends Sangini, played by Lee Jumul Jose. This shows the false allegations on a tribal man, the brutality he faced in custody, the exposing of the corruption in the system by the official bodies, and working towards protecting the rights of the minorities.
Controversies
Indian-Tamil legal drama film Jai Bhim has found itself in the middle of a controversy for a scene that features actor Prakash Raj who is seen slapping a man for speaking in Hindi. However, this controversy only generated a lot of viewership to the movie, people are approaching the film just to see this scene.
