Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy had previously remarked at the ceremony that the museum was a vivid illustration of Indian democracy and that an individual from a poor family could become Prime Minister of the country.

The museum is a “work in progress,” according to Nripendra Misra, president of the NMML executive council. Former Prime Ministers’ families, he claimed, had contributed items including Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Bharat Ratna medal.
