Stimulus Payment 2022: Check if you receive an automatic check for $270 in NY

Eligible New Yorkers could receive up to 270 dollars in a new stimulus payment following Governor Kathy Hochul’s announcement on September 8.

The payments, known as the Additional NYS Child and Earned Income Tax Payment, are meant to help with the cost of inflation and will be sent out by the New York Department of Taxation and Finance.

As per the Governor’s Office, claimants who filed a 2021 tax return and received one or both of the Empire State Child Credit and the Earned Income Credit are eligible.

How do I get the check?

Checks will include one or both payments and will be mailed out automatically, with the minimum amount issued being 25 dollars.

While the checks are expected to be sent out at the end of October, officials have stated there could be delays for those needing to provide the state with extra information.

Why are they sending out checks?

“With this relief package, we’re making good on our commitment to helping hardworking New Yorkers through the nationwide affordability crisis,” Hochul said.

September Stimulus Check Update

“This program will put money back in the pockets of nearly two million New York families struggling to make ends meet in the face of the pandemic, inflation, and other rising costs.

“My administration focuses on improving affordability statewide, and I thank the Legislature for its partnership in ensuring that New York families get this much-needed financial assistance.”
