Donald Trump launches U.S. presidential campaign for 2024

Donald Trump recently launched a bid to regain the presidency in the upcoming elections of 2024. Joe Biden will be Trump’s competitor. Trump announced Florida’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Trump delivered a short speech to his supporters in a ballroom decorated with chandeliers and lined with American flags.

Trump said to the phone-waving crowd, which included family members, donors, and former staffers,

“To make America great again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”

He continued,

“Two years ago we were a great nation, and soon we will be a great nation again; we’re being poisoned” – portraying American cities as crime-ridden “cesspools of blood.”

Trump implemented some new rules, including the death penalty for drug dealers and rehiring military members dismissed for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Although he assailed the U.S. election process, Trump did not use his speech to revive his false claims of massive voter fraud in 2020 and did not mention the violent attempt by his supporters on Jan. 6, 2021, to prevent Congress from certifying Biden’s victory.

Trump’s announcement comes when the country is famous for its protracted precedential campaign. Trump is seeking to become only the second U.S. president in history to serve non-consecutive terms after Grover Cleveland, whose second stint ended in 1897.

He became president of his father’s real estate business in 1971 and renamed it The Trump Organization. He expanded the company’s operations to building and resonating skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. He later started side ventures, primarily by licensing his name.

He won the 2016 United States presidential election as the Republican nominee against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton despite losing the popular vote. He became the first U.S. president with no prior military or government service.

Trump is the only American president to have been impeached twice. Since leaving office, Trump has remained heavily involved in the Republican Party, including making over 200 political endorsements during the 2022 midterm elections.
