Bollywood Hungama has praised the film for its performances & applause-worthy climax and rated it 4 out of 5.
Following the Covid-19 pandemic, remakes were not working in Bollywood. However, Drishyam 2 managed to break that trend and has once again proved that a movie performs at the box office if there is strong content.

Drishyam 2 is a remake of the Malayalam film of the same and a sequel to Drishyam, released in 2015. The original movie featured Mohanlal in the lead role and was directed by Jeethu Joseph. It was released directly on Amazon Prime Video on February 19, 2021, and received decent feedback for its narration and performances.

The 2021 film was a sequel to the 2013 film, Drishyam, which Joseph also directed. The film has a record of being remade into four Indian languages, which started with Drishya in 2014 and featured Ravichandran. A Telugu remake, Drushyam, with Venkatesh in the lead, and a Tamil remake, Papanasam, with Kamal Haasan, followed this.

As mentioned earlier, the Hindi remake was released in 2015; the sequel to Drushyam was released last year on Amazon Prime Video on November 25, 2021, nine months after the release of the Malayalam sequel.
