The city of Birmingham, Alabama, is paying single mothers guaranteed income.
A total of 110 mothers receives $375 a month for one year.
Cambridge, Massachusetts, offers a guaranteed income payment of $500 to 120 people for 18 months.
The city’s mayor is looking to extend the program and offer it to more residents in a second future phase.
New Mexico
New Mexico residents were offered two different rebate programs, reports The Sun
One is based on their income, and the other only requires that they file a tax return in 2021 and aren’t claimed as a dependent.
Individuals who filed as head of household married filing jointly or a surviving spouse who earned less than $150,000 are eligible for $500. In comparison, single filers and married couples who filed separately and earned less than $75,000 will receive $250.
