Hollywood actress Catherine Zeta-Jones was seen walking the red carpet in China’s Shandong province on Sunday. The actress was there for opening a film studio, Oriental Movie Metropolis.
The studio worth $5 billion is located in the city of Qingdao and is already being billed as China’s Hollywood.
This is Zeta-Jones’ first public appearance since her separation from husband and actor Michael Douglas.
The 43-year-old actress was seen walking in a red and blue floral pattern gown and later in a more formal gown.
News about the couple’s separation came in August, after Zeta-Jones’s admission in a mental health facility for bipolar disorder. Married since 2000,
Douglas and Zeta-Jones have endured a lot of hardships, including Douglas’s cancer, Zeta-Jones’s mental issues and Douglas’s son’s drug abuse and imprisonment.
Douglas has already admitted that the two are living separately, but only temporarily. Catherine and Michael haven’t officially announced their split. A rep said that the couple needed some time apart to evaluate their marriage.
Meanwhile Douglas was seen 6,000 miles away in Los Angeles, walking the red carpet of the Emmy Awards. The actor was nominated for an HBO mini-series, “Behind the Candelabra”.
The series got total 10 Emmy nominations, including “Outstanding Lead Actor”.
