Lady Gaga's new look as Harley Quinn in 'Joker: Folie À Deux' rocks the internet

If you are a DC Comics and Lady Gaga fan, you are in for a treat. The pop star and Oscar-winning actress is playing Harley Quinn in the upcoming sequel to Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime. And we have the first glimpse of her stunning costume from the set photos that leaked online.

Lady Gaga was spotted filming some scenes in New York City on Saturday, wearing a red jacket, a checkered top, and a black skirt with diamond patterns, matching Harley’s signature style.

In case you’re wondering, though, Margot’s already given Gaga’s take her own personal stamp of approval.

“It makes me so happy,” she told MTV News, “because I said from the very beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters the way…like, Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor.”

She also sported long blonde hair with red and black tips and dramatic eye makeup that gave her a fierce look. She was surrounded by extras who were dressed as protesters, holding signs that read “Free Joker”, “Joker Marry Me,” and “No Justice Not Guilty Not Joking”.

The film, titled Joker: Folie A Deux, is directed by Todd Phillips, who also helmed the first Joker movie that earned critical acclaim and box office success in 2019.

The sequel will explore the relationship between Arthur Fleck, aka Joker, and Harley Quinn, his psychiatrist-turned-accomplice-and-lover in the comics. The film’s title refers to the French term “a madness shared by two”.

In August last year, Phillips shared the first look of Phoenix and Gaga in their roles on Instagram, with a caption that read “Folie à Deux.”

The image showed a shocked Harley holding Joker’s face in her hands as he smiled wickedly at her. The post went viral and generated a lot of excitement among fans eager to see how the duo would portray the iconic characters.

Joker: Folie A Deux is slated to release on October 9, 2024, in theaters. It will also feature Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, Joker’s neighbor and love interest from the first film.

The film is expected to be a dark and twisted psychological thriller that will delve into the minds of two of the most notorious villains in DC history.
