Recipients of an assured income program in Virginia will get their next $500 stimulus check in only one week. Alexandria Recurring Income for Success & Equity, or simply ARISE, is the name of this program. As per the program’s website, the American Rescue Plan Act, which funds it, provides $500 on the first of every month to 170 citizens of Alexandria, Virginia. Last year, applications for this program began to be accepted on October 31 and were accepted until November 9. Candidates were chosen the following month December 13.
Impact Of Additional $500 Stimulus Check On Recipients
According to a statement from a program coordinator, the first payment was given in February to the recipients, and the program as a whole will run until January 2025. A resident of Alexandria who was at least 18 years old was required to register for this program. Depending on how many persons resided in the applicant’s household, the applicant’s income had to be at or less than 50% of the median income of the area. Abt Associates, Alexandria’s program research partner, used a lottery selection to choose the applicants at random. The impact of the additional $500 per month on recipients’ financial security and well-being is being assessed by Abt Associates.

According to an announcement from Justin Wilson, the Mayor of Alexandria, “Thanks to the dedication of our community associates, we exceeded our goals for reaching and inspiring Alexandrians to apply for ARISE.” To have a chance to get more income and the freedom to make decisions that could better their financial situation, quality of life, & future, it was important for us to make sure that all eligible residents in the City were aware of ARISE and encouraged to apply. The city got 4,149 entries for the program in total, and 170 of those were chosen reports Washingtonexaminer.
