‘The Simpsons’ predicted titan submarine mishap

Mike Reiss, a former producer and writer on The Simpsons, told the New York Post that the 2006 episode was inspired by the American action thriller film Crimson Tide which involves a U.S. nuclear submarine. However, a calamitous twist ensues as Homer's vessel becomes trapped within the confines of a treacherous cave, leading to a rapid depletion of oxygen levels. After a harrowing ordeal, Homer eventually awakens in a hospital three days later, safe but bewildered. As news of the video began to circulate, online communities became divided. Some users found the theory enthralling, embracing the notion that "The Simpsons" possessed an uncanny ability to foresee future events. What is even more fascinating is that Reiss himself was onboard the same vessel to see the wreckage of the Titanic last July. Towards the end of the episode, an oxygen-low light flashes up on the screen, and Homer begins to drift out of consciousness. As a result of this, Homer woke up in the hospital after being in a coma for three days, surrounded by his family.
