FIR Filed Against Amit Malvia as he alleges Rahul Gandhi is Determined to 'Stop Modi at Any Cost

An FIR that is a First Information Report, has been filed against Amit Malvia, the head of the ‘IT cell’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party, by the Karnataka Police as he posted a video about the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Twitter.

It has also been reported by NDTV that in another tweet, the BJP leader shared an animated video that allegedly features altered versions of Gandhi’s speeches.

The video was posted on 17th June by BJP’s ‘IT cell’ head on June 17 with the caption saying that ‘Rahul Gandhi is dangerous and playing an insidious game…’. It has animated depictions of a person who wants to ‘stop Modi at any cost’ and takes Gandhi’s help in the matter.

It has been reported that the FIR was filed on the basis of a complaint that had been written by the Karnataka Congress Leader named Ramesh Babu.

Reports also say that along with Ramesh Babu, the Congress leader Priyank Kharge who is also the information technology minister of Karnataka has also filed a complaint against the BJP leaders including, Amit Malviya, BJP national president J.P. Nadda and BJP Chandigarh chief Arun Sood on behalf of the Congress party on June 19, saying that Rahul Gandhi had been “made a target of a malicious and false 3D animated video”.

The complaint said that, The video was made with the intent of tarnishing not just Rahul Gandhi and the Congress’s image but also to “instigate communal discord, and misrepresent the party and its leaders’ persona,”

The FIR was filed quickly by the Karnataka Police as the police in Karnataka is directly under the control of the recently elected Congress government in Karnataka.

The video, as said by Amit Malvia, appears to trick Rahul Gandhi’s speeches as it has been claimed that he is being used by foreign forces who wish to break India.

The Indian Express has also reported that, “Amit Malviya has been booked under sections 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 505-2 (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill will between classes), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).”
