Taylor Swift has achieved some incredible milestones in her music career. Recently, she became the first woman in the world and the third artist overall to have four albums consecutively in the Top 10 of the US album chart. She also surpassed Barbra Streisand‘s previous record and now holds the title for the female artist with the most No. 1 albums in history.
At the age of 33, Taylor Swift’s latest album, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)“, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with 716,000 album-equivalent units. This is the biggest opening week for any album in 2023 and the best since her previous album, Midnights, which was released last October.
In addition to Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), three of Swift’s other albums, Midnights, Lover, and Folklore, are also in the Top 10. This makes her the first woman to have four albums in the Top 10 at the same time since the charts began in 1963. The last living act to achieve this was Herb Alpert in 1966.
Swift’s albums now account for four of the five biggest debuts in the past five years, with Adele’s album 30 from 2021 in fourth place, just ahead of Speak Now.
Swift is also close to surpassing Prince, the only other artist to have at least four albums simultaneously in the Top 10. In her song “Nothing New” (Taylor’s version featuring Phoebe Bridgers), she sings about the fear of losing her novelty, but it seems she has nothing to worry about.
Furthermore, Taylor Swift has now surpassed Barbra Streisand as the female artist with the most No. 1 albums in history. Both artists previously held the record with 11 albums each.
‘Speak Now’ is the third of six albums that Swift is re-recording following a dispute with music mogul Scooter Braun and her former record label. In 2019, it was revealed that Swift did not own the master recordings of her earlier albums.
Swift has achieved another significant milestone by becoming the first living artist in almost 60 years to have four albums concurrently in the top 10. She is also the first woman and solo artist to have 11 albums simultaneously charting on the Billboard 200 chart.
