Stimulus Checks Update: Californians To Receive Late Payments September End

By the end of the month, thousands of Californians who did not receive their Middle-Class Tax Refund check will do so. A stimulus payment of $1,050 was given to most people last year based on their earnings, filing status, and family size. Californians who qualify will receive one-time payments from the state’s Democratic-controlled legislature to help offset historically high gas prices.

5000 Stimulus Payments For Californians

The state’s Franchise Tax Board (FTB) has now announced that 5,000 payments for people who were eligible but never got them will be made by the end of September. This batch of payments is anticipated to be the final one. In the future, there might still be some situations where people receive new money, such as losing the debit card they used or a payment sent to the wrong address is returned. So far, the Middle-Class Tax Refund payments have totaled $9.2 billion. 9.6 million debit cards and 7.2 million bank deposits are included. Even though FTB had already distributed the great majority of payments by the end of January this fiscal year, the statewide government has continued sending first-time reimbursements based on revised address data and information for taxpayers who called them to check their eligibility.

Disbursing Of Stimulus Funds

87 percent of the cards that had been distributed had been activated, totaling $4.6 billion. This indicates that 13% of the cards issued to over a million recipients have not been activated or utilized. More than half of the successfully activated cards still have funds loaded upon them. Only 45% of people have no balance. The cards will expire in April 2026, and the board is mailing letters on how to activate debit cards to customers who haven’t done so.
