SSDI is a federal program that provides financial assistance to people who are unable to work due to a disability. To qualify for SSDI, individuals must have a disability that prevents them from engaging in substantial gainful activity and is expected to last for at least one year or result in death.

Applicants must have worked in jobs covered by Social Security to earn sufficient “work credits” based on their work history. The amount of the SSDI benefit is based on the individual’s past earnings. Once approved, recipients receive monthly payments to help cover living expenses.

If a person receives both SSDI and Social Security, they should have been paid on December 3. If no payment has been made then enquire to the Social Security Administration for further advice.

When will I get my SSDI payment?

The delivery a payment relates to two factors. The date an applicant starts receiving SSDI and the date of their birthday.

  • If the date of birth falls between the 1st and 10th of their respective month, they will get the payment on the second Wednesday. So for December, that would be the 13th.
  • If the date of birth falls between the 11th and 20th of their respective month, they will get the payment on the third Wednesday. So for December, that would be the 20th.
  • If the date of birth falls between the 21st and 31st of the respective month, they will get the payment on the fourth Wednesday. So for December, that would be the 27th.

What day will Social Security checks be deposited this month?

Social Security deposits are now paid on the same date as SSDI so it will follow the same system as outlined above, but it’s here again:

  • Dec. 1: Payments for those on Social Security since before May 1997.
  • Dec. 13: Birthday falls between the first and 10th of any given month.
  • Dec. 20: Birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of any given month.
  • Dec. 27: Birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of any given month.
