Apple to unveil new 4-inch iPhone SE with 50 percent price cut

As per a research note from Ming-Chi Kuo, from KGI Securities, it is claimed that the much anticipated 4 inch iPhone would be featuring a 12-megapixel camera and not an 8-megapixel one that was rumored previously.

Along with the launch of this new phone, there is going to be a 50 percent price cut in the price of iPhone 5s. This is going to increase the shipments of this 4 inch iPhone by 131 percent year to year to around 37 million units in the year 2016.

It is expected that the phone would be unveiled at a press event on March 15, 2016, and would be released on March 18, 2016.Currently, the price of an iPhone 5s is $450 and with a 50 percent price cut, it can be availed at $225.

Kuo also states that the device would be having an A9 chip, NFC and a slightly curved glass just like the iPhone6.  It is said that the iPhone would feature Live Photos Support, Bluetooth 4.2 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

It would be fueled by a 1642mAh battery and would come in storage capacities of 64GB and 16GB. The device lacks support for 3D Touch.

The researcher further says that the cost of the iPhone would be between $400-$500 in the U.S.  This would surely help the company in targeting the lower price segment of the market.

KGI is of the opinion that customers would opt for heavily discounted iPhone 5s as compared to the new 4 inch iPhone. This would result in around 12 million shipments for the new device and 25 million for 5s.

As per recent rumors, it is suggested that this iPhone might be named ‘iPhone SE.‘ However, there are different stories concerning the name of the device since last few months.
