'Big Girls Don't Cry' OTT release date revealed, Ananya Pandey introduces the show

Popular actress Ananya Pandey collaborated with Prime Video to promote an upcoming school-age drama titled ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’. “They’re here to make it all happen because big girls don’t cry, they conquer,” wrote Ananya Panday.

A story based on friendship, sisterhood, patriarchy, love and more..

The story is set in Vandana Valley, a fictional prestigious all-girls boarding school. The series takes its audience on a ride into the lives of the young girls who confront friendship, love, heartbreak, rebellion, and dreams as well as dealing with their internal struggles. They challenge the norms of the school as well as the society. Along the way, these young girls fight a battle of their own, while striving to remain true to their identities.

Creator of the series, Nitya Mehra said, “I think school life in India, especially that of girls, is so underrepresented in storytelling, be it in Indian literature or cinema. Coming-of-age told through the eyes of an all-girls boarding school in its most authentic avatar is what I was going for. ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ isn’t just another girls’ boarding school drama, it is an insight into the lives, ideas, and feelings of young girls who are carving a path for themselves, finding their way into this world, and doing so on their terms.

Learning to overcome challenges and capitalize on opportunities, these girls are jet-setting on an enriching journey of self-discovery that will define who they are and what they’re made of. This series is a little homage from me to all the girls out there jostling to figure out their identities. I want to celebrate girl gangs and sisterhood, and having Prime Video celebrate that with me was the perfect match.”

The Ensemble cast and release date

‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ features Avantika Vandanapu as Ludo, alongside Aneet Padda (Roohi), Dalai (Pluggy), Vidushi (Kavya), Lhakyila (JC), Afrah Sayed (Noor), and Akshita Sood (Dia) in lead roles. The series also stars seasoned actors like Pooja Bhatt, Raima Sen, Zoya Hussain, and Mukul Chadda. Created by Nitya Mehra, the series is co-directed by Sudhanshu Saria, Karan Kapadia, and Kopal Naithani.

Big Girls Don’t Cry will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in India on March 14.
