Watch MI vs SRH Highlights, IPL 2024: SH Beat MI by 31 Runs

SRH Crush MI-in Record Breaking IPL-Match.

The iconic Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad turned into a batting paradise and a fresh page of history was written as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) overpowered Mumbai Indians (MI) by 31 runs in the 8th match of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

On this occasion, SRH batsmen set the talk of the town with their unbelievable show of power-hitting. The last total of 277/3 set the new record for the highest team score in the history of IPL, which shattered the previous record of Royal Challengers Bangalore 263/5 from 2013.

Abhishek Sharma opened alongside Travis Head, and they got into the groove in no time, reaching their 50s off just 18 and 16 balls respectively, which is the fastest ever for SRH in the IPL.

In the end, Heinrich Klaasen did it all, scoring an unconquered 80 off 34 balls and thus making the SRH team more in control.

MI Mount a Spirited Challenge

MI’s bowlers also had a mammoth target to chase them, as they got off to a flying start. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma produced similar magic, which RCB fans have been missing for a long time.

Nevertheless, their lost heat by powerplay plays greatly blew their momentum. Tail enders MI, Naman Dhir, and Tilak Varma then had a ray of hope with the 84-run partnership.

Dhir scored a whirlwind 30 off 14 balls and Varma played a slow but effective innings of 64 off 34 balls.

The very moment MI was considering a heist, Dhir’s dismissal brought about a mini-collapse that made them not have enough time in the death overs.

SRH thus secured an exciting victory. Jaydev Unadkat became the hero of the match which SRH did not expect. He bowled economically in the death overs.

Although he conceded a mere 19 runs in his last two overs, he effectively choked MI’s chase.

Cummins and Markande were the saviors for Mumbai Indians as they took regular wickets at crucial intervals, which completely ended the hopes of Mumbai Indians.

A Night of Records

This game will be talked about for a long time to come, for the number of runs scored in it. The 523 runs and 38 sixes from the combined score were the highest ever recorded for the IPL and T20 cricket as a whole.

It was a joyous night for the Hyderabad cricket fanatics. The victory didn’t only send a strong message from SRH but also made a dream start to their home leg in the IPL 24.
