Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star MS Dhoni was greeted with cheers from Vizag fans when he debuted against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman did not bat in CSK’s first two matches, and fans are eagerly waiting for him to do so, as this could be his last season.
According to News18, The incident occurred in the 17th over when Mukesh Kumar took the third wicket of the innings, and Shivam Dube bowled a long delivery to Tristan Stubbs. Dhoni finally came out to bat as the Super Kings chased 192 in 20 overs.
Capitals’ bowlers were on top as they held Yellow Army to a 32-32 draw. Openers Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who took two wins from 6 overs, were dismissed cheaply. Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell did something to raise the asking price before losing wickets.
MS Dhoni’s fireworks were not enough to carry the Super Kings to their third victory:
Dhoni’s performance of 37 from 16 deliveries enthused the crowd at the Vizag Stadium, but it was not enough to bring victory to the Super Kings.
The 42-year-old bowled his first ball and took 20 runs off the last over off Anrich Nortje. But Nortje scored 41 points on the final possession and it was an easy first win for the Capitals.
