Trump shares AI-generated images of Taylor Swift fans implying endorsement

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has posted fake AI-generated images of pop star Taylor Swift and her fans, suggesting that he should be backed for the US Presidential Elections in 2024. The former US President captioned the pictures taken from other social media accounts with “I accept!”

Trump’s post

Trump posted four images on his social media account, Truth Social.

The first one contains photographs of women wearing “Swifties for Trump” shirts, and a satirical story headlined “Swifties Turning to Trump After ISIS Foiled Taylor Swift Concert” with the label “SATIRE” over the headline.

Another picture resembled a World War One US army recruitment poster, replacing Uncle Sam’s look with Swift’s and reading: “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump”.

After receiving a potential security threat, Taylor Swift recently had to cancel three concerts in Austria’s capital, Vienna. Police detained two persons on suspicion of plotting attacks allegedly inspired by the Islamic State organization.

Swift’s previous statement on Trump

The “Paper Rings” singer has not officially endorsed any presidential nominee for the 2024 US Elections. However, back in 2020, she came out supporting the Democratic Party. She also openly criticized Trump during his administration amid nationwide protests over George Floyd’s murder by police officers.

She took to X (then known as Twitter) in 2020. She wrote, “After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? We will vote you out in November.”

Reuters reported that Trump’s post was “yet another example of AI’s power to create misinformation. ” Consumer group Public Citizen added, “The potential harms to our society that could result from such misinformation, including abuses of our elections, are wide-reaching and immensely damaging.”
