India skipper Virat Kohli wins the toss and elected to bat first against Australia.
The 14th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup is being played at London on June 9, 2019.
India score 352 runs (Shikar Dhawan 117)
“I would have batted first, same reasons as Virat,” says Finch. ” I would have batted first as it’s a dry surface, might get slower later,” he adds.
This is India’s second match of the tournament. Australia played two and won both.
MS Dhoni will wear a different type of glove today.
No changes in either sides.
India: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Lokesh Rahul, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah.
Kohli says after the toss, “Its a good track, but it’s a used surface, so best conditions to bat and put runs on the board.
“The bowling attack can get into the attack in the second half. The batsmen chasing will be wary, and scoreboard pressure may count. It’s been overcast everywhere, but today it’s sunny, so no brainer to bat first.
“We think the pitch will play nicely. At the Oval, when the sun is out, you invariably bat first. No change because we have depth and balance. Team is in good spirits.”
India will remember how Australia came back from 0-2 down recently to clinch the series 3-2 in their own backyard just two months ago.

This is a very important match for both the teams. This match could decide whether a team finishes 1st or 2nd/3rd, and that will decide who their semifinal opponents are.Tweets by BCCI
