Xiaomi Mi 3 discontinued in India to focus on Redmi 1S launch

After launching upcoming Redmi 1S, reports suggest that Xiaomi will stop selling the Mi 3 indefinitely. The Chinese manufacturer had launched been selling the phone on Flipkart website in flash sales.

Tech blog TechPP wrote that the company’s India head Manu Jain has said that the focus over next few weeks will be on Redmi 1S, and Mi 3 won’t be available. The final call will be after few weeks, once they have more data points.

The weekly flash sales have ended within 40 minutes and some ended in mere seconds showing the demand for Xiaomi Mi 3. By not selling the Mi 3 must be to increase the demand of Redmi devices and prepare for the Mi 4 launch, which is expected after Diwali in India.

The Redmi 1S which goes on sale next week is already looking like hot property. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S supports dual-SIM, features a 4.7-inch 720×1280 pixel IPS-LCD display with AGC Dragontrail glass protection, 8GB internal storage which can be expanded by microSD card up to 32GB, a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera and a 8-megapixel rear camera.

Redmi 1S is powered by a powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1GB of RAM and sports a 2000mAh removable battery. The phone with dimensions of 137x69x9.9mm weighs 158 grams and is priced at Rs 5999.

After Redmi 1S, the Redmi Note is to follow and plans have been drawn for the MiPad and Mi Band which is a fitness accessory. For now Mi 3 will not be available for a couple of weeks and it may or may not be back on Flipkart.
