Indian cricket team awaits bigger test in a few months

After a horrifying summer tour, the Indian cricket team has been adamant of putting things back on track. Clinching the ODI series as early as they could, India has now regained the No.1 spot in ODI rankings.

Sharing the spot with South Africa, India stands on top only on decimal points and whose duration depends entirely on the upcoming matches. Standing at just three months away from the biggest cricketing tournament, losing the top spot would only be the least of concern as they still are in wait of what it could be termed as an ideal assessment.

Dhoni and men in blue

Indian lads have barely witnessed a closer test when playing the white ball. The summer began with yet another reminder of what they lacked when playing abroad.

But that quickly seemed to be forgotten when they brought in the ecstasy with the ODI win that followed. Though in away soil, the England squad was no match to take the fight to their opposition.

The Caribbean win was nothing that was overlooked, but yet gave a blow at the beginning. And the sudden visit of Sri Lanka barely seemed to cause trouble, with the visiting players themselves showing least interest in their recurring encounter with their subcontinent neighbors.

But something big is awaiting the entire squad in the same venue in the month of February. The test match series results could be brushed aside in the wake of World Cup run up, but what follows would be indications of to what extent Dhoni and his men would be carrying the burden of retaining the world champion titles.

Things have been going all in favor for India of late. Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, etc have been showing some good potential between the 22 yards.

But it’s been quite a long time since they have faced a team in the top three. Forget the top; a single win was an unachievable feat the last time they made their visit to the Southern Pacific region .

That is something which would barely be skipped from the minds when they make the long running visit starting this December. The tri-nation series would be the perfect wakeup call if they are to yet again redo their previous outings.

The same would also ignite the thought of filling in with the right balance, which rarely trouble the squad when in the subcontinent.
