Killer Mike Celebrates Birthday and 4/20 With New Album 'Michael' and El-P Collaboration

Killer Mike has announced MICHAEL, his first solo album since R.A.P. Music way back in the pre-Run The Jewels days of 2012.

The Atlanta rapper and activist revealed the news on his birthday on 4/20, sharing a new single called “Don’t Let The Devil” featuring his RTJ partner El-P and thankugoodsir.

The album, set to drop on June 16 via VLNS/Loma Vista, is described by Mike as “an origin story” and “my Logan”. He explained that he wanted to start with El-P because they are celebrating their 10th anniversary as a duo this year.

The song is produced by El-P, No I.D., and Little Shalimar and showcases Mike and El-P’s chemistry and lyrical prowess over a soulful sample, according to Stereogum.

MICHAEL will be Mike’s fifth solo album and his first since he teamed up with El-P to form Run The Jewels, one of the most acclaimed and influential hip-hop groups of the past decade.

Their latest album, RTJ4, was released in 2020 and received critical acclaim and commercial success. The duo also announced a 10th-anniversary tour for Run The Jewels, which will kick off in October.
