The Met Gala, one of the most glamorous and anticipated events in the fashion world, is back after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
The annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute will take place on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. EST, with a star-studded guest list and a tribute to the late fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld.
This year’s theme is “In honor of Karl”, celebrating the life and work of Lagerfeld, who was the creative director of Chanel, Fendi, and his own label for decades.
The exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” will showcase more than 150 pieces from his prolific career, as well as his sketches and personal items, according to CNBC.
The co-chairs for this year’s gala are actors Penélope Cruz and Michaela Coel, tennis champion Roger Federer, singer Dua Lipa, and Vogue’s editorial director Anna Wintour. They will be joined by hundreds of celebrities, designers, models, and influencers on the red carpet, wearing outfits inspired by Lagerfeld’s style and legacy.
