New Zealand scored 273 all out in 50 overs

Team News:

Suryakumar for Hardik was the simple option, but India dropped Shardul and brought Md Shami to strengthen their bowling. That means India has just five bowlers.

New Zealand’s bowlers have been in great form, so Tim Southee may not need to change his bowling attack. Kane Williamson is still out injured, so it is unlikely that New Zealand will make any changes to their team.

The Kiwi squad is unchanged.

Rohit Sharma explains why he chose to field first on this track; He said: “No particular reason. In training yesterday, we thought Dew came in early. Good pitch; it shouldn’t be different. (Unbeaten so far) It is important to keep momentum going and forget the past.

“We know the nature of the WC – all teams can beat anyone. (Dharamsala conditions) This is one place where everyone wants to come and play. Picturesque. (Injury issues) No Hardik. Shardul also misses out. Shami and Suryakumar are in.

New Zealand skipper Latham says he would have bowled to take advantage of the grass: He said during the toss, “We would’ve bowled first as well due to the Dew. (Unbeaten run) We have built a bit of momentum, and we have tried to apply our game plan. We want to adapt as quickly as we can to these new conditions. Can’t afford to put the guard down; anyone can beat anyone. (Combination) Same team.”

 TV Telecast:

The match will be telecast live on Star Sports and its affiliated channels in India. Fans can also watch the match live on Hotstar. The game will be available on Sky Sports for viewers in New Zealand.

Squads:

India XI: Rohit, Gill, Kohli, Iyer, Rahul, Suryakumar, Jadeja, Shami, Kuldeep, Siraj, Bumrah.

New Zealand XI: Conway, Young, Ravindra, Latham, Mitchell, Phillips, Chapman, Santner, Henry, Ferguson, Boult.

Pitch and weather Report:

The Dharamsala pitch is expected to favor fast bowlers, with pace and carry expected. The track was very green on the eve of the match, but some grass is likely to be shaved off before the start.
