India captain Rohit Sharma says he wanted to bat first, but he understands that bowling first is a good option, too, given the new pitch and the fact that England has been struggling with the bat.

“We wanted to bat first, but we also know that bowling first is a good option on a new pitch, especially when the opposition is struggling with the bat,” Sharma said at the toss. “It looks like a good pitch, and it’s been playing well for the 100 overs so far. It’s important to think about the long game, but it’s also important to get the two points.”

“We’ve played some good cricket so far, and it’s always good to have a break. It’s nice to come back here and get back into business. We’re playing the same team we played in the last game.”
