The 69th Filmfare Awards, Bollywood’s most prestigious film ceremony, took place in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on January 27, 2024.

While several films and actors shone bright, the biggest spotlight was undoubtedly on Ranbir Kapoor and wife Alia Bhatt, who emerged as the undisputed king and queen of the evening.

Ranbir’s Animal Roars, Alia’s Rocky Blooms:

Ranbir Kapoor, in a stunning black tuxedo, captivated the audience with his electrifying performance in the film “Animal.” His intense portrayal of a complex character earned him the coveted Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) award, marking a triumphant return to the top after several years.

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt, resplendent in a red saree, mesmerized viewers with her effervescent charm in “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani.” Her nuanced portrayal of a young woman navigating love and life won her the Best Actress in a Leading Role (Female) award, adding another feather to her already illustrious cap.

’12th Fail’ Makes a Mark:

The critically acclaimed film “12th Fail” emerged as the clear winner of the night, bagging both the Best Film (Popular) and Best Film (Critics) awards.

Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra was lauded for his poignant storytelling, while the film’s cast, including Vikrant Massey (who also won the Best Actor (Critics) award) and Rani Mukerji (who won the Best Actress (Critics) award), delivered stellar performances.

Other Notable Wins, Vicky Kaushal, Shabana Azmi

The night saw several other talented individuals take home awards. Vicky Kaushal’s captivating performance in “Dunki” earned him the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) award, while Shabana Azmi’s masterful portrayal in “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani” won her the Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Female) award.

The soulful music of “Animal” composed by a team of music directors bagged the Best Music Album award.

Shilpa Rao’s mesmerizing rendition of “Besharam Rang” from “Pathaan” and Bhupinder Babbal’s powerful vocals for “Arjan Vailly” from “Animal” won them the Best Playback Singer (Female) and Best Playback Singer (Male) awards respectively.
