The Prime Minister is expected to address a women’s rally in Barasat, in North 24 Parganas district, and may also meet with the victims of the alleged assault.
Sandeshkhali controversy
The Sandeshkhali controversy has been a major source of political tension in West Bengal, with the BJP accusing the TMC-led state government of inaction and cover-up. The BJP has also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has denied any wrongdoing by her government.
