'Doctor Slump' K-drama review: Park Shin-Hye and Park Hyung-sik reunite after 11 years

Korean actors Park Shin-Hye and Park Hyung-Sik, last seen in the K-drama ‘The Heirs’, have continued to give massive hits to the viewers through their projects; this is the first time in 11 years the two actors have reunited on-screen. Their latest drama, “Doctor Slump”, is currently on Netflix.

Plot of ‘Doctor Slump’

“Doctor Slump” is based on the cliche genre of ‘haters-to-lovers’. It is the story of two former classmates who were their rivals in high school.
Years later, they cross paths at the lowest point in their lives. With the failed attempt of desperately trying to avoid each other, they fall in love.

Shin-Hye plays the role of Nam Ha-neul, who has always prioritized her studies and career above her personal pleasure and mental wellness.
Years later, when she gets diagnosed with depression, she decides to quit her job and finally take time for herself.

At this point in her life, she meets Jeong-woo (played by Hyung-Sik), her former classmate and nemesis. Jeong-woo, who has established his position as the nation’s best plastic surgeon, is also a star on social media platforms.

However, due to a medical mishap, his whole career crumbled down, and he became the primary suspect in the death of a patient. The two former classmates, despite their struggles, find warmth and solace in each other.

Will there be a season 2 of ‘Doctor Slump’?

Netflix has a Limited Series label, which indicates that there will be no show renewal for the second season. Unfortunately, ‘Doctor Slump’ is on the list of limited series. The K-drama is currently on air. Fans are rooting for Ha-neul and Jeong-woo’s happy ending.
