Korean Drama 'Chief Detective 1958' premieres on Disney+Hotstar

The upcoming Korean drama Chief Detective 1958 will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on April 19, 2024.

The series is a prequel to the Korean series Chief Inspector, which captivated audiences from 1971 to 1989. Choi Bool Am played the role of Chief Detective Park Young Han in the original series and will have a cameo in Chief Detective 1958. Kim Sung Hoon directs the series.

Lee Je Hoon will play the role of Chief Detective Park Young Han. The story is set in the 1950s when a detective named Park Young Han has earned a name for arresting criminals committing petty offenses. Despite his hard work and diligence, Park Young Han is treated like a rookie. Therefore, he forms his squad to solve crimes and free society from corruption.


Lee Dong Hwi will play Kim Sang Sun, one of Park Young Han’s team members. He works at Jongnam police station, where he is known as the “crazy dog.” His expertise lies in biting the bad guys.

Jo Kyung Hwan, as Choi Woo Sun, is another team member. Woo Sun is a skilled fighter. He started as a rice mill worker, but his journey to detective will pique the interest of viewers.

Seo Ho Jung will play the role of Yoon Hyun Soo, a member of the elite class who has always dreamed of becoming a detective.

Actress Seo Eun Soo will play the potential love interest of Park Young Han.

Cameo of Choi Bool Am

Director Kim Sung Hoon shared the experience of working with veteran actor Choi Bool Am and said it was an honor to have him on sets.
