Navjot Singh Sidhu resigns from BJP, may join AAP

Navjot Singh Sidhu one of the most prominent leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have resigned on Monday and is speculated to join the Aam Aadmi Party. Chairperson Hamid Ansari has accepted the resignation of the 52-year-old ex-cricketer.

On this latest development Gurdeep Sappal, OSD to the RS chairperson told PTI that just after nominated Rajya Sabha member Navjot Singh rendered his resignation, his paper has been accepted with immediate effect.

The sources speculate that Sidhu, who was nominated on 22 April, was quite angry with the party ever since he was ignored to make way for Arun Jaitley, who was appointed to fight from Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency.

Other than that speculation are also doing the round that AAP may represent him as a candidate for Punjab Chief Minister.

His wife Navjot Singh, who is the chief parliamentary secretary in Punjab have also created quite a flutter in the BJP party after she announced her resignation on April 1 from BJP.

But after meeting some of the leaders from the current ruling party, she said that she is very much part of the party. But now rumors are doing the round that she will soon hand over her resignation to the party.

Going by the current development Bhagwant Mann, the AAP Sangrur MP said, “If Navjot Singh Sidhu decides to join the party we will welcome with open arms. As far as now. For now, he has not contacted us and nor have we got in touch with him.”

Furthermore, Mann added that as of now the party has not decided on who will campaign as AAP CM from Punjab. As far as Sidhu is concerned because of his clean image and oratory skill, may find a stronger ground base in AAP.

For now, the ex-cricketer has yet not officially announced which party he will be joining in the future.
