‘Just Call Me Emily’ says two-time Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone!

The ‘La La Land fame Emma Stone admitted that she would like to be called by her official birth name which is “Emily.”

She recently appeared in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter where Emma said that she would like it better if people called her Emily instead of Emma. 

Emma Stone reveals why she initially chose to go with the name Emma

Actress Emma Stone revealed why she made up her mind to go with the name “Emma” instead of her birth name “Emily”. She explained that since another actress from SAG-AFTRA already possessed the name Emily Stone, she thought it would be better to go with Emma Stone to avoid confusion.

But, the actress admitted that she’s had had enough of her stage name. She also said that she got “freaked out a couple of years ago” and that is when she decided she would come clean and urge people and her fans to call her Emily.

She also claimed that the industry people as well as her close ones generally call her by her birth name. 

Emma also confessed that part of the reason why she decided to go with the name Emma was because of her admiration for Spice Girls’ Emma Lee Bunton aka Baby Spice.

“Growing up, I was super blonde, and my real name was Emily, but I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice, and guess what? Now I am,” Emma once said in an episode of ‘The Tonight Show’ with Jimmy Fallon.

Emma’s bold remark to call her by her birth name Emily was lauded by her fans and admirers.

One user wrote on ‘X’ – “Good for Emily Stone to ask fans to call her by her real name! Sad that her profession required a unique name.”

“I’m calling you Emily from now on xx,” another added.
