White House Adviser Kurt Campbell Says The US’ Relationship With India Is’ Essential’

President Biden Discusses Ukraine situation with America's allies

At a time when the international order is changing and security difficulties are arising as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, White House Indo-Pacific counselor Kurt Campbell said the US has opted to strengthen its alliance with India as well as offering New Delhi security options. The connection with India, according to the official, is “most vital” for the United States in the twenty-first century.

In a conversation at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) in Washington, he said that while there are always obstacles to the bilateral ties, the best approach is to stay focused on the fact that the most important relationship for the United States in the twenty-first century, in his opinion, is likely to be with India.

In reaction to the QUAD (Australia, India, Japan, and the United States) partners’ differing policy approaches to Russia’s attack on Ukraine, he argued that it is unreasonable to expect total unity among four dynamic countries on every topic.

Campbell defended India’s neutral posture on the matter, saying that the US is personally interacting with New Delhi’s authorities to signal firmly that the US wants to create “stronger ties with India” over time.

Campbell also stated that the US, together with its allies such as the United Kingdom, France, and Israel, will assist India with security strategies.

India’s tactically autonomous diplomacy on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which began earlier this year, has drawn worldwide attention to New Delhi. Given New Delhi’s growing cooperation with Washington in the Quad grouping, most of these believed that India would ally itself with Ukraine & against Russia.

Dr. Ami Bera, an Indian-American Democratic congressman who demonstrates the California district that encompasses Sacramento and leads the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on Asia, had substantial weight over policy and funding in that region and spoke at the discussion.

The United States has repeatedly stated that it recognizes India’s longstanding relations with Russia and that it would be challenging for India to terminate relations with Russia swiftly, as reported by NDTV.
