“Kantara” has set out in three time periods 1870, 1970 & 1990. The main plot runs in 1990 when Shiva and his people fight for their rights to land and existence.
The story revolves around Shiva, played by Rishab Shetty, and DRFO, played by Kishore. The DRFO wants to mark the land as Reserved Forest, and the people of the village of Kaadubettu oppose it due to their long-time inhabitation.
Finally, who wins the land is the basic plot of the film. The sequences of Buta Kola, and Kambala, which are ancient traditions of Karnataka, India, are beautifully placed in the field of the film.
