Lars Mikkelsen is all set to play Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Series ‘Ahsoka’

Lars Mikkelsen is all set to play Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star War Series 'Ahsoka.'

On Saturday, April 8, at the Star Wars Celebration fan conference in London, Lucasfilm said that Lars Mikkelsen will portray the iconic “Star Wars” antagonist on the upcoming Disney+ series “Ahsoka.”

The Series

Dave Filoni’s animated Star Wars universe is being brought to life in the Lucasfilm Disney+ series Ahsoka.

As per Variety, the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration on Saturday concluded in the announcement that Lars Mikkelsen, the Danish actor who voiced the popular villain Grand Admiral Thrawn in Filoni’s 2014 series, Star Wars: Rebels, would reprise the role of the new series.

The new Star Wars series Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson as Anakin Skywalker’s protege Ahsoka Tano who has abandoned the Jedi way of life, will premiere in August. Her quest to find Thrawn is one of the show’s central plotlines.

All About Thrawn

Thrawn had rapidly won over die-hard Star Wars fans with his icy blue skin and flaming red eyes soon after his debut.

Although author Timothy Zahn initially conceived Thrawn for his Star Wars books in the 1990s, the character and his storylines were declared non-canon when Disney purchased Lucasfilm in 2012. By making him the primary antagonist of Rebels, a four-season television series that aired on the Disney Channel and Disney XD, Filoni brought the character back into the public eye and canon.

Grand Admiral Thrawn’s back was shown in the Ahsoka trailer, and there was even a tribute to the 1991 book Heir of the Empire, which served as Thrawn’s official debut. Thrawn is regarded as one of the best tactical brains in the galaxy and may be essential to restoring the Empire.
