Sonakshi Sinha On Facing Flak For Her Problematic Scenes In ‘Rowdy Rathore’

Sonakshi Sinha Opens Up About Getting Blamed For Problematic Scenes In 'Rowdy Rathore'

Sonakshi Sinha recently revealed that she bore the brunt of criticisms for the contentious and misogynistic sequences in Akshay Kumar’s starrer “Rowdy Rathore.”

Sonakshi’s Statement

Sonakshi stated in a recent interview that she would not today contemplate acting in a movie similar to “Rowdy Rathore.”

When asked about the moment in which Akshay’s character holds Sonakshi by the waist and exclaims, “Yeh mera maal hai,” Sonakshi explained that she would never act in such roles now.

She claimed that because she was so young, working on a Sanjay Leela Bhansali-produced movie starring Prabhudheva and Akshay was a significant accomplishment for her. But she also said that if she were to read a screenplay like that now, she would not act in it, as her views of the industry have changed.

Double-Standards

Sonakshi commented that no one had questioned the film’s creators, adding that people used to blame her for such disturbing scenes constantly and that women are usually the bad guys in situations like that. Nobody mentioned the screenwriter who created the dialogue or the director of the movie.

As per The Times Of India reports, Sonakshi is preparing to take on the character of a cop in the new television series “Dahaad” from directors Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, which also stars Vijay Verma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah. The eight-part crime thriller, set in a town in Rajasthan, follows sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati (Sonakshi) and her coworkers as they look into the case of many women who were inexplicably found dead in public restrooms.
