Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first in the first ODI against Sri Lanka being played in Dambulla on Saturday, July 11, 2015.

SL skipper Mathews rues his ill fortune in terms of winning the toss; he said: I am trying my best to win a toss. I would have bowled as well.

“It looks like a good ODI wicket. We still have Dilshan and Thirimanne at the top, we have a debutant in Siriwardana. It depends on the situation, wherever the team needs me, I will bat there.’

New Pakistan captain Azhar Ali was lucky with the toss: he justifies his decision to put the hosts in to bat first, “There will be some help early on, we want to bowl first.

“We are not unduly worried about qualifying for the Champions Trophy. Sarfraz will bat in the middle-order, he has done well in the recent past for us.”

Sri Lanka XI: M Siriwardene, T Perera, Perera, Dilshan, Thirimanne, Tharanga, Chandimal, Mathews, S Prasanna, S Lakmal and L Malinga

Pakistan XI: M Hafeez, B Azam, Azhar Ali, A Shehzad, Anwar Ali, Y Shah, R Ali, M Irfan, S Malik, M Rizwan and Ahmed.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka play two t20 internationals after this five ODI series.
