Overview of ‘Bhakshak’
The film is based on true events and revolves around a journalist named Vaishali Singh (played by Bhumi Pednekar) who uncovers shocking details of heinous crimes that are carried out behind close doors in a girl’s shelter home in a small town in Bihar. As Vaishali probes into the matter, she comes to know that the owner of the shelter, Bansi Sahu is the miscreant behind all the crimes and violence, supported by his allies. Vaishali swears to expose the racket. She encounters various obstacles but she remains resilient in her motto and fight for justice.
Bhumi Pednekar shines as Vaisakhi
By taking on the role of daunting journalist Vaisakhi, Bhumi proved her versatility as an actress.
The tone of the film is set from the very first scene. The film is dark and distressing and gives us a glimpse of a girl’s shelter home in Bihar, unveiling the inhumane realities and living conditions of the girls. However, the audience feels that the script could have been better. The film is directed by Pulkit.
